The rainy season brings squalls which are somewhat localized. We only once went directly through one that was also full of lightening. We can see the squalls as large blotches on the radar screen, which is so wonderful because you can change course to avoid them. We unplug all the electronics when a lightening storm comes close. Hopefully, that will keep us from losing the equipment if it should strike the antennas or the mast. Maybe not, lightening is very unpredictable. Mike has jumper cables leading down into the water from the shrouds that support the mast, so if it is hit, the strike will travel down into the water. So far, so good.
